Raspberry Chipotle Cranberry Sauce
The Maplewood Sweet Tooth Tour has given attendees a chance to sample sweet treats on a chilly January Saturdya since 2013. You buy a ticket online prior to the event, check in at an appointed spot to get a physical card, and then spend the afternoon leisurely visiting a dozen or so spots to sample something sweet.
It’s a lot of sugar, to be sure, and some people have taken to bringing plastic leftover containers to store everything and enjoy it over a longer period of time, rather than consume it all in an afternoon.
At Tale to Table, we sell some sweets, but our selection of cheeses and salami and tinned fish leave us solidly in the savory camp, so we try to shake things up a bit. This year (2024) we’re offering a sample of Raspberry Chipotle Cranberry Sauce made with Spiceology spice blend.
The sauce is definitely a kick-up from traditional, basic sauce, and not only a way to liven up Thanksgiving dinner, but a smoky and spicy addition to just about any type of sandwich — from turkey to grilled cheese or even hamburgers. Ingredients
1 can whole berry cranberry sauce
1 Tbsp Spiceology Raspberry Chipotle
1 Tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp lemon zest and juice
Salt to taste
Directions
Open can and tip cranberries into bowl
Add all ingredients (except salt) and mix; season as needed with salt
Refrigerate for at least an hour to let the flavors meld
